Winchester has been awarded a $9 million US Military contract for exploring tracer ammunition production for the Army’s new 6.8 mm Common Cartridge. The 6.8 mm cc was developed by Sig Sauer and was chosen by the US military as its new cartridge for the Sig XM5 rifle and the Sig XM250 automatic rifle. Winchester is currently the largest producer of small arms ammo for the military and is the operator of the U.S. government owned, 4000 acre Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO.

Beretta Holding which acquired Norma Precision announced its plans to invest $60 million into an ammunition manufacturing plant in Savannah, Ga. The 300,000 sq. ft. facility will encompass the entire process of ammunition production from manufacturing to assembly and distribution. Beretta Holding currently employs nearly 1000 people in the US through its other companies, including Beretta USA, Benelli USA, Burris and Steiner eoptics.

CSG, Czechoslovak Group based in Prague has acquired a 70% stake in Italian based Fiocchi. Fiocchi has operations in Italy, US and the UK. Fiocchi has also recently announced Little Rock Ark., as the location of its future ammunition primer manufacturing facility. It will be one of only 6 primer manufacturing plants in the US.
